How the connection works, in full

OpenHouse sends every open house sign-in into BoldTrail as a new contact. You connect once with a BoldTrail API token, and after that each visitor at the door lands in your BoldTrail database on its own, with the deal type set and a note holding the visit details.

If your account still says kvCORE, that is the same platform. Inside Real Estate renamed kvCORE to BoldTrail, and the API token, the contact database, and the smart campaigns all carried over. The token you paste into OpenHouse is the same token under either name.

Connect it once

  1. In BoldTrail, go to Lead Engine, then Lead Dropbox, then My API Tokens, and create a token. Give it the Contacts scope, or All.
  2. Open the Connections page in your OpenHouse dashboard and paste the token in.
  3. Send a test lead from OpenHouse and watch the contact appear in BoldTrail.

BoldTrail does not publish a public test account, so OpenHouse checks the token format and then confirms the real connection when you send that first test and see it land. The token is stored encrypted and never shown back in full.

What each sign-in becomes in BoldTrail

Every sign-in posts to the BoldTrail public contact endpoint with the visitor's name, email, and phone, the source set to OpenHouse, and the capture method set to Open House Sign-In. The deal type is set to buyer, seller, or renter based on the answers at the door, so BoldTrail routes it the way you route those contacts.

BoldTrail takes the contact first and notes on a separate call, so once the contact is created, OpenHouse attaches a note with the property address, the visitor's timeframe and financing, their interest level, and whether they have a home to sell. If that note ever fails to attach, the contact itself is still delivered, and the delivery log tells you exactly what happened.

From there, your own BoldTrail smart campaigns and routing take over, the same as any other lead source.

It keeps working with no signal

The iPad and iPhone kiosk captures on the device, so a listing with weak Wi-Fi does not cost you leads. Each sign-in waits in a local queue, and when the device reconnects, it syncs and posts into BoldTrail. See offline lead capture for how the queue behaves.

You can also keep your tablet out of visitors' hands. Print the QR code sign-in for the sign rider, let visitors fill the form on their own phones, and the contact still reaches BoldTrail on its own.

Buyers who already have an agent

Some open house visitors already have representation. By default, OpenHouse marks those as represented and holds them back from BoldTrail, so a smart campaign never starts chasing another agent's client. The record stays in your OpenHouse list and your export. If you would rather push every visitor, that toggle lives under Lead handling.

If BoldTrail is not your only tool

OpenHouse can deliver the same sign-in to more than one place at once. If your team runs a mix, see Follow Up Boss, HubSpot, Lofty, or the full CRM export and delivery options. Comparing the built-in BoldTrail sign-in tool with a dedicated capture app? The OpenHouse, kvCORE, and BoldTrail comparison walks through it at the door.

Common questions

Is kvCORE the same as BoldTrail?

Yes. Inside Real Estate renamed kvCORE to BoldTrail, so it is one platform under two names your team may still use interchangeably. The API token OpenHouse uses is the same token whether your account UI says kvCORE or BoldTrail, and it delivers to the same contact database either way.

How do I connect OpenHouse to BoldTrail?

In BoldTrail, go to Lead Engine, then Lead Dropbox, then My API Tokens, and create a token with the Contacts scope or All. Paste it into the Connections page in your OpenHouse dashboard. BoldTrail has no public test account, so OpenHouse checks the token format and confirms the connection when you send your first test lead.

What does each sign-in create in BoldTrail?

A contact posted to the BoldTrail public contact endpoint, with the visitor's name, email, and phone, the source set to OpenHouse, and the deal type set to buyer, seller, or renter based on the sign-in answers. OpenHouse then attaches a note with the property address and the visit details as a follow-up call, so your smart campaigns have the context.

Do I need a paid BoldTrail plan?

Yes. The API token is created inside a paid BoldTrail or kvCORE account, and there is no free tier for lead delivery. That is why OpenHouse confirms the connection with a live test send rather than pre-checking a token against an account it cannot see.
