How the connection works, in full

OpenHouse sends every open house sign-in into Lofty as a new lead. You connect once with your Lofty API key, and after that each visitor at the door posts to Lofty on its own, carrying qualifier tags, a note with the property address, and the buyer, seller, or renter type.

If your team still calls it Chime, that is the same product. Chime Technologies rebranded to Lofty on November 7, 2023, and the accounts, keys, and pricing all carried over. The API key you paste into OpenHouse is the same Lofty key either way.

Connect it once

  1. In Lofty, go to Settings, then Integrations, then API, and copy your API key.
  2. Open the Connections page in your OpenHouse dashboard and paste it in.
  3. Send a test lead from OpenHouse and watch it appear in Lofty.

Lofty does not publish a public test account, so OpenHouse checks the shape of the key and then confirms the real connection the honest way: you send one test lead and see it land. The key is stored encrypted and never shown back in full.

What each sign-in becomes in Lofty

Every sign-in posts to Lofty's create-lead endpoint with the visitor's name, email, and phone. On top of that, OpenHouse sends:

  • Qualifier tags so a glance at the contact tells you the visitor type, timeframe, and financing.
  • A note in plain English with the property address, interest level, and whether they have a home to sell.
  • The lead type set to buyer, seller, or renter based on the answers at sign-in, so Lofty routes it the way you route those leads.

Lofty's tags are additive, so a repeat visitor keeps the tags they already had and gains the new ones rather than getting overwritten. Once the lead exists, your own Lofty smart plans and routing take over exactly as they would for any other source.

It keeps working with no signal

The iPad and iPhone kiosk captures on the device, so a listing with weak Wi-Fi does not cost you leads. Each sign-in waits in a local queue, and when the device reconnects, it syncs and posts into Lofty. See offline lead capture for the details.

You can also keep your tablet out of visitors' hands entirely. Print the QR code sign-in for the sign rider and let visitors fill the form on their own phones, and the lead still reaches Lofty on its own.

Buyers who already have an agent

Some open house visitors already work with another agent. By default, OpenHouse marks those as represented and holds them back from Lofty, so your smart plans never start following up with someone else's client. The record stays in your OpenHouse list and your export. If you would rather push every visitor, that toggle lives under Lead handling.

If Lofty is not your only tool

OpenHouse can deliver the same sign-in to more than one place at once. If your team runs a mix, see Follow Up Boss, HubSpot, BoldTrail and kvCORE, or the full CRM export and delivery options. Common questions

How do I connect OpenHouse to Lofty?

In Lofty, go to Settings, then Integrations, then API, and copy your API key. Paste it into the Connections page in your OpenHouse dashboard. Lofty does not publish a test account, so OpenHouse checks the key format and then confirms the connection when you send your first test lead and watch it land in Lofty.

Is Chime the same as Lofty?

Same company, new name. Chime Technologies rebranded to Lofty on November 7, 2023. Your logins, accounts, API keys, and pricing carried over unchanged, so the API key you use with OpenHouse is the same Lofty key whether your team still says Chime out of habit or not.

What does each sign-in create in Lofty?

A lead posted to Lofty's create-lead endpoint, with the visitor's name, email, and phone. OpenHouse adds qualifier tags, a note with the property address and the visit details, and the lead type, buyer, seller, or renter, based on the answers at sign-in. Lofty then applies your own routing and action rules.

Do I need a paid Lofty plan?

Yes. Lofty's API access requires a paid Lofty subscription, and the API key OpenHouse uses is minted inside that account. There is no free Lofty tier for lead delivery, which is why OpenHouse confirms the connection with a live test rather than a pre-check.
